Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” Nelson, age 57, of Suwanee, GA passed away Friday, July 20, 2012.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Margaret Nelson.  He is survived by his wife of eight years, Jayne McCormick-Nelson, Suwanee, GA; daughters, Meggie Nelson, Duluth, GA; son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Kaelan Nelson, San Antonio, TX; stepchildren, Jessica McCormick, Smyrna, GA, Alaina McCormick, Suwanee, GA; one grandson, Truett Nelson; sisters and brothers-in-law Lynne and Jim Halloran, Round Rock, TX and Laurie and James Anderson, Georgetown, TX; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jackie Nelson, Lutz, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Nelson was born July 19, 1955 in Munich, Germany. He was a 1973 graduate of Killeen High School in Killeen, TX and a graduate of Arizona State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.  He was also a graduate of the University of Texas where he received his Master’s Degree in education.  He was employed with Gwinnett County School System as a high school counselor at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, GA.  He previously worked at North Gwinnett High School and was assistant girls golf coach for many years.  He also coached girls and boys golf team at Mill Creek.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating at Lake Lanier, and he worked some Sundays at Legacy Golf Resort Pro Shop.

Memorial service will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Sondra Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, P.
