James Warren Dunning Sr.

James Warren Dunning Sr., 90, of Grayson, GA, passed into eternity the evening of Aug 4, 2012 from the complications of a sudden, tragic injury.  Originally from Greenfield, TN, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and Korea, during which service he received many medals, including the Silver Star, retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps after attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He graduated from the University of Georgia as a pharmacist in 1956. At one time he owned two pharmacies, Dunning’s Candler Plaza Drugs in Decatur, GA, and Lavista Pharmacy in Atlanta, GA, sold real estate, and was the owner of Scenic Discount Furniture in Lawrenceville, GA.   He pursued his every goal with single-minded zeal and succeeded at nearly everything he undertook. He will be remembered for his honesty and kindness toward all.

He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Laura S. Dunning, and survived by sons Dr. James W. Dunning Jr. of Marietta and Kenneth S. Dunning, attorney at law, of Grayson, two granddaughters Eva L. Dunning Clark of Kennesaw and Laura K. Dunning of Marietta, and two lovely great-granddaughters Seneca Clark and Kylie Clark of Kennesaw.  He was a member of Grayson United Methodist Church in Grayson, GA. The body was cremated.  A memorial service will be held at Grayson UMC in Grayson, GA on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM.
